Lancaster University's Summer Programme offers a huge choice of holiday courses and activities for families. There are over 60 courses for adults and a wide range of activities for children (5 to 16 years).

The attractive campus is set in parkland just outside the historic city of Lancaster, and is close to the Lakes and Dales. With its landmark architecture, superb sports facilities, art galleries, cafes and shops, this top University provides a safe, friendly environment that is perfect for a family summer school.

The choice of five-day courses (half or full days) includes hobbies, arts, crafts, writing, walking, languages, sports, music, literature, history, personal development such as yoga and tai chi, and much more. Some of the more off-beat courses include ‘How to Win an Argument’, ‘Coast’, and ‘Travel Writing’.

Many courses take you out and about to enjoy the fabulous scenery and the historic and cultural heritage of the North West. Come for one week or two either on a daily basis or staying on campus in half board en-suite or self catering accommodation.

For children and young people there is a terrific choice of activities - we can guarantee that they won't be bored! Activities include making movies and creating computerised animated characters. There are also multi-activity programmes for different age groups which include fun activities such as drumming, a treasure hunt or nature trail, a trip off campus, ceramics, drama, and more. For older children there is the opportunity to try out university life, sampling courses in various subject areas and meeting current students.

Courses for adults cost from £65 for five half days, £120 for five full days. Activities for young people cost from £99 for five full days. Course fees include free entry to a fun evening programme of talks, excursions, music and activities.
