Discovery Summer Cruising April 2010 – Nov 2010
31 Exciting Voyages of Discovery for you to discover in 2010
Discovery’s Summer 2010 cruises head off in a host of different directions, reaching that much further in more ways than you might think.
Now even more choice
As well as perennial favourites around Scandinavia, the Baltic, the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, our Summer programme now stretches from April to November, expanding the number of fascinating ports on the roll call. We return to the remote islands of Spitsbergen on the fringes of the Arctic Circle. We’ll be welcomed back in Greenland by the hardy Inuit people. New on our Britain & Ireland cruise will be a call in Liverpool, a recent European City of Culture bursting with art and entertainment. Also popular will be an innovative French cruise to La Rochelle, Mont St Michel, the Rouen of Joan of Arc and the vines of Bordeaux. Other ports to highlight include Sicilian Catania, Nauplia near the Greek citadel of Mycenae, the island of Korcula and the city of Split on the Dalmatian Coast.
Sail in 4-star comfort
Combining adventure with comfort, a voyage on-board mv Discovery is the perfect way to explore fascinating destinations. Small enough to reach out-of-the-way ports, large enough to make light work of crossing the great oceans, our flagship avoids the excesses of today’s mega-liners. Instead, she has been expressly conceived for our special brand of ‘discovery cruising’ to create an atmosphere on board that is friendly and relaxed. There are all the facilities you would expect on a ship of this size, including three restaurants, a choice of bars and lounges, two pools, a well-stocked library, lecture theatre/cinema and internet centre. During your voyage, you will be accompanied by around 650 like-minded passengers with similar interests in history, culture and travel and will be well looked after by our officers and crew.
Travel in the company of experts
A hallmark of any Discovery cruise is our comprehensive guest speaker programme. Complementing the talks given by our own lecturers previewing the destinations ahead, it features historians, explorers, naturalists and diplomats who will share their expertise, anecdotes and interests with you.
Do it all or nothing at all
Our extensive daily programme of on-board activities let’s you decide exactly how you will spend your day. The Carousel Lounge plays host to a wide selection of on-board workshops and master classes, and depending on your cruise, you can try tap and dance, discover a new craft or brush up on your watercolours. In the evening, talented entertainers will tread the boards in the lounges, where you can enjoy lively jazz sets, classical music concerts, tasteful cabaret productions and more.
Outstanding value for money
All Discovery cruises represent outstanding value, with on-board gratuities, meals and entertainment included in our fares. An early reservation not only means you have a greater choice of cabins, but you can take advantage of some excellent savings.
