Collecting used batteries for recycling
Compliance schemes, such as Valpak work in partnership with waste management companies that collect and empty our battery collection boxes, taking them to the correct recycling facilities.
This service is completely FREE to all businesses and organisations within the UK.
- Request a battery collection box
- Promoting battery recycling and safe storage
If your business or organisation is based in the UK and would like to start collecting batteries, please complete the request form and will provide you with one of our FREE battery collection boxes.
These boxes have been designed to store household portable alkaline (AA,AAA,etc.) batteries, but please note lithium primary batteries and button cells should only be collected as part of this mix in the battery recycling boxes. We would also advise their terminals are taped to prevent shorting.
Once the box is full, please call us on 03450 682 572 and our nominated service provider will collect the waste batteries and either return the box or replace it if it is damaged. This is also free.
Please note collections are normally made within 10 working days.
We have put together some guidance and advice on how to safely manage your battery collection points, along with some literature that will help raise consumer awareness on the importance of battery recycling. These can all be viewed on our “Promoting battery recycling and safe storage” page.
Empowering your organisation to promote battery recycling awareness as well as the safe collection.
Valpak
has put together a handy guide to
help advise on areas such as types of batteries accepted, where to place and
manage your containers, and to highlight areas you should pay close attention
to. Batteries pose a serious hazard; therefore, it is important to fully
consider any associated safety risk to children.

Help us to raise awareness on battery recycling…
Collecting batteries for recycling is vital for protecting the environment from harmful chemicals, and it’s remarkable that items such as batteries can be recycled and repurposed into something new!
You can help us raise awareness by using the literature we have created in and around your shop or organisation.
