Unicorn Trails was started in 1999 by Wendy Hofstee, a veterinary surgeon, traveller and horse lover. In her travels all over the world, first with a backpack and later on horseback, she also met a lot of wonderful and knowledgeable horse men and women on all continents who had a unique point of view to share, not to mention incredible places to ride in. She also saw a lot of ignorance about horse care resulting in abuse of horses and bad riding holidays. There was obviously a need to select the good places and share these experiences.
