Bookbug is the Scottish Book Trust’s early years programme. It gifts free bags of books and resources to all children in Scotland at four stages, from birth to Primary 1, with Gaelic versions and tactile books for children with additional support needs.

The bags are handed out at the right ages through the usual early years routes, so there is nothing to buy. Alongside the bags, free Bookbug Sessions of stories, songs and rhymes run in libraries and community venues across Scotland – look up your nearest session on the Bookbug pages.

The bags are for children living in Scotland only. The sessions are drop-in or bookable depending on the venue.
