Bookstart, run by the national reading charity BookTrust, gives every baby aged 0-12 months in England, Wales and Northern Ireland a free book pack, entirely free of charge.
Packs are usually handed out by health visitors, registrars or libraries during a baby’s first year, and include a book plus a finger puppet along with tips on sharing stories together (the Welsh and Northern Irish packs are bilingual and include a library leaflet).
If your pack has been missed, BookTrust’s own parents page lets you contact your local Bookstart Coordinator directly to arrange one before your baby turns one.
