Free Wills Month is a long-running campaign in which a group of well-known UK charities covers the cost of a simple will, or an update to one, written by a participating solicitor. It runs in March and October each year in selected areas of the UK.

To claim: during October, go to the Free Wills Month website, enter your details and postcode, and you will be shown the participating solicitors near you. Contact your chosen solicitor directly to book an appointment. You need to get in touch during the month, but the appointment itself can be later.

Conditions: you must be 55 or over (for mirror wills for a couple, only one of you needs to be 55 or over). Only simple wills are covered; complex wills may cost extra. Appointments are limited and go on a first-come, first-served basis, and if no solicitor is taking part in your area this time there may be one in a future campaign. The charities hope you will leave them a gift in your will, but there is no obligation.
