Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow’s West End holds 22 themed galleries covering art, arms and armour, natural history and Scottish design, with Salvador Dalí’s Christ of Saint John of the Cross, a suspended Spitfire and daily recitals on the concert organ.

Glasgow Life lists the venue’s admission as “Free Entry”, with donations welcome but nothing required. The same applies across the other Glasgow Life museums including the Riverside Museum and the Burrell Collection.

Opening hours are Monday to Thursday and Saturday 10am to 5pm, Friday and Sunday 11am to 5pm. No booking – just turn up.
