Everyone starts with the online Home Fire Safety Checker, a short set of questions that assesses the level of risk in the household. Higher-risk homes are offered an in-person visit; lower-risk households get tailored self-check advice instead.

Complete the Home Fire Safety Checker on the brigade’s website and, if you qualify, they will arrange an appointment at a time that suits you. Fire and rescue services outside London run equivalent free schemes on their own sites.
