Manchester Museum, on Oxford Road at the University of Manchester, reopened after a major redevelopment with a South Asia Gallery, a Chinese Culture Gallery, its long-standing Egyptology and natural history collections and a live vivarium.

The museum’s own visit page states that “All our galleries and exhibitions are free to enter”. No membership, ticket purchase or donation is required.

The one caveat from their own wording: you have to book in advance, still free of charge, for the main temporary exhibition. Everything else is walk-in during opening hours.
