Free NHS Dental Care for Children and Pregnant Women

NHS dental check-ups, hygiene appointments and clinically necessary restorative work such as fillings and extractions are free of charge for every child under 18, and for 18-year-olds still in full-time education.

Anyone who is pregnant, or has had a baby within the last 12 months, is also entitled to free NHS dental treatment throughout that period – ask your midwife, GP, practice nurse or health visitor to apply for your Maternity Exemption Certificate.

You will need to be registered with a dentist who accepts NHS patients; check eligibility and find an NHS dentist via the official NHS website.
