The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in Inverleith runs to around 70 acres of living collections, rock garden, Chinese hillside, arboretum and woodland, with views back across the city skyline.

RBGE’s own visit page for the Edinburgh garden states: “Garden entry FREE”. There is no ticket, no membership and no donation required to walk the grounds.

The separate Victorian Glasshouses carry an admission charge, so keep to the outdoor garden if you want the whole visit free. Just turn up during opening hours – no booking needed.
