Tate is the UK’s national collection of British and modern international art, and three of its four galleries state free admission on their own visitor pages: Tate Britain in London, Tate Modern on Bankside and Tate Liverpool + RIBA North.
Free entry covers the permanent collection displays, which include world-famous works by Turner, Hockney, Rothko, Warhol and many more – you can simply turn up during opening hours.
Special ticketed exhibitions are charged separately, and Tate St Ives requires a ticket or membership card, so check the gallery page before travelling if you have a particular show in mind.
