Google’s own YouTube Premium support page confirms an introductory free trial for eligible new members (and returning members who cancelled 6+ months ago), covering ad-free video across YouTube, background play, offline downloads and YouTube Music Premium.

Sign up at youtube.com/premium with a Google Account that has never held Premium, add a payment method to start the trial, and enjoy the full paid experience immediately.

Google is explicit that the membership “will automatically renew” and charge your payment method once the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand, so set a reminder if you only want the free period.
