Shimu offers an exclusive range of traditional Chinese furniture and an extensive selection of restored antique furniture sourced from the diverse regions of China.

Each piece in our classical range of furniture is handmade from reclaimed elm wood by skilled craftsmen in China, using traditional carpentry methods passed down through generations. The designs are based on the pure, clean styles of the Ming Dynasty China’s golden age and their timeless simplicity means that they look perfectly in keeping with even the most modern home. While some pieces are hand–painted with traditional designs, most of our furniture is available in a choice of finishes – warm elm, light elm or black lacquer. A made–to–order service is also available, allowing you to customize any of the pieces in our standard range.

We also work with suppliers in Beijing and Shanghai to source the finest antique furniture from around China. Each piece is selected for its beauty, form and functionality in a modern environment and is carefully restored to bring it a new lease of life without losing the rich patina that has formed over decades. The range of antiques we stock is constantly changing as we discover and ship new pieces and we are also able to source individual pieces on request.
