Apuldram Roses Catalogue

Apuldram Roses is a small, family-run company that was started 30 years ago and continues to believe in good, old-fashioned customer service alongside friendly, helpful advice.

About Apuldram Roses

Apuldram Roses remains a small family business with a long history. The company places great importance on offering sound guidance and a personal approach, ensuring customers feel supported throughout their decision-making.

The Roses

The roses are grown on farmland near Chichester Harbour, under the shadow of the magnificent Chichester Cathedral. The nursery grows approximately 50,000 stocks and buds over 350 different varieties, mainly using a Rosa Laxa stock produced in Great Britain.

The stock is planted in January or February, depending on the weather, and budded in June of the same year. This is the point at which the team decides which varieties to keep, drop or introduce. The plants then grow under the watchful eye of Jonathan and his right-hand man Oscar.

In January of the following year, the old roses are headed back, with the top growth cut away to leave only the bud of the new rose. Once the red shoots appear and the roses bloom through summer, the plants are finally lifted in October, some 22 months after the process began, ready to be sent out.

Our Aims

The company sets out clear aims for every customer it works with:

  • To give sound advice so that you make the right decision for where you are planting.
  • To endeavour to send a top quality plant that will give many years of pleasure.
  • To listen to any complaints and deal with them promptly should the need arise.
