GLAMORGAN HERITAGE COAST AND COUNTRYSIDE BROCHURE

The Glamorgan Heritage Coast and Countryside is a great place to visit for a break away whether for a few days, a week or just for a day out.

Throughout the year the area is packed with things to see and do for that unique and some would say quirky experience. There are free festivals and events including the Mash Up, Feastival, Barry Tall ships Festival, Cowbridge Food Festival and not forgetting the Porthcawl Elvis Festival.

With 28 miles of coastal scenery for you to explore, dramatic cliffs, sandy family beaches, popular surfing spots, world famous golf courses, legendary villages, fascinating towns and ancient castles.

Stay in cosy places that will feel like a home from home, or others that will feel nothing like home. Unless, that is, you live in a Romany Caravan, a Yurt or a Railway Carriage.

Situated between Cardiff and Swansea, any visitor to South Wales will have these two cities at the top of their 'to do' list. But, while you are here to watch an international match at the Millennium Stadium, a performance at the Wales Millennium Centre, or some top class premiership football at the Liberty Stadium, you can stay less than half an hour away, in stunning heritage countryside or close to one of the many sandy beaches.

Nearest beaches for millions
The traditional British seaside experience is alive and kicking in the beach resorts of, Barry Island and Porthcawl. Build a sandcastle, paddle in the sea, relax with a book, surf a wave, fun for all the family. They are home to the nearest beaches for millions of people, and whatever time of year you visit, you are sure to have a fantastic time. Beach life doesn't stop there though.

Escape the crowds and head off for a weekend along the protected Glamorgan Heritage Coast where the coastline is both wild and wonderful and perfect for those who love the outdoors. You can use our beach guide within the holiday brochure to find out more, whether you want to go rock pooling with little ones, take part in water sports, or go for a gentle coastal walk with your dog along a part of the Wales Coastal path.

The Glamorgan Heritage Coast and Countryside is also an ideal place to take an activity break, such as a few days cycling, walking, surfing, or for a round of golf. If you are keen on a golfing break then you will be impressed by the diverse range of Links and US style parkland courses as well as a number of pitch and putt courses ideal for those picking up a club for the first time.
