Overland Club specialises in adventurous overland holidays, offering expeditions to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America, the Middle East, Egypt and Asia for travellers seeking the ultimate journey.
Overland Club originated from a Trans Africa expedition in 1992, led by founder Ron Smith, and from that journey the company was born. In the early years the Club consisted of an annual Trans Africa, with new shorter trips introduced year by year, so that it now offers 13 trips in Africa alone.
From the start, the aim has been to provide excellent value trips that make overland style travel accessible to the budget traveller, a concept that has now spread to four continents. The Club places a strong emphasis on balancing the commercialism of expeditions with the belief that an expedition should be independent and of a much more private nature.
Over the years, Overland Club has provided an ever increasing choice of trips to meet the demand for affordable and adventurous travel, while continuing to specialise in the epic Trans Africa expeditions.
Although the company has grown considerably since that first Club journey, travellers can still experience more personal treatment. An Overland expedition brings people together through their shared enthusiasm for adventure. Managing director Ron Smith continues to lead trips each year, helping maintain that personal touch and ensuring the Club stays well ahead of trends and new routes.
From the managing director to the tour leaders and office staff, there is a shared passion for overland travel and the areas visited, which the team aims to instil in every traveller.
