Kays was the catalogue arm of Kay & Co Limited, a long-established mail-order business operated in the UK and latterly marketed by Shop Direct Home Shopping Limited. With offices and warehouses across the country, the Kays Catalogue (also known as the Kays Lifestyle Catalogue) became a very successful home shopping name, particularly during the latter part of the 20th century.
Kays placed a distinct emphasis on childrenswear, toys and the everyday essentials a busy mother might need, aiming firmly at the heart of family life. It understood the needs of busy families and provided a convenient, hassle-free way to shop and pay for goods.

Kays became part of GUS Great Universal Stores and later merged with Littlewoods to become Shop Direct. Shop Direct Group Limited was a leading UK multi-channel retailer marketing several home shopping brands, including Kays, Great Universal, abound, Choice, Innovations, Marshall Ward, Home Free and McCord, centred on the traditional home of the Littlewoods group in Liverpool. The Kays brand continued under Shop Direct until January 2011, when Kays, Empire Stores and Great Universal Stores merged to become K&Co. Ultimately, Kays became part of Littlewoods at the end of July 2015.
