WineTrust100 is a UK online wine retailer built around a simple, refreshing idea: a constantly updated selection of just 100 wines, each one chosen for being the best of its type at its price. Every bottle on the list is vetted by a panel of Masters of Wine who taste thousands of wines each year before reaching a consensus on which deserve a place in the hundred.
Where many wine retailers list thousands of labels, WineTrust100 keeps the range deliberately tight. At any one time there are exactly 100 wines available, spanning red, white, rose, sparkling and fortified styles sourced from wine regions across the world. The restraint is the point: every wine has earned its place, so shoppers can browse with confidence rather than navigating an overwhelming catalogue.
The selection is led by Masters of Wine, holders of the wine trade's most demanding qualification. Co-founded by Master of Wine John Hoskins and ex-Tesco marketing director John Valentine, WineTrust100 was designed to put genuine expert judgement at the heart of every buying decision. The panel tastes blind, agrees by consensus, and only approves wines it considers exceptional value for money relative to their price band.
Value does not mean cheap: the pricing structure is deliberately tiered so that around 25 wines sit at or below the ten-pound mark, around 55 at or below fifteen pounds, and the majority of the range falls under twenty pounds. A small number of premium bottles sit above thirty pounds, but none breaks the hundred-pound ceiling. The aim is wines that punch above their weight at every level.
Customers can join the WineTrust Club to receive a seasonally curated case of 12 wines hand-picked by the Masters of Wine, delivered free to the door. Signing up to the WineTrust100 eNewsletter provided regular savings, tasting notes and pairing inspiration drawn from the same expert team that builds the core range.
The range is capped at exactly 100 wines at any one time, each selected by a panel of Masters of Wine purely on quality relative to price. The narrow focus means every wine on the list has been rigorously assessed, giving shoppers a reliable shortcut to well-chosen bottles without having to navigate a vast catalogue.
WineTrust100 was co-founded by Master of Wine John Hoskins alongside John Valentine, formerly of Tesco. The selection panel comprises Masters of Wine who blind-taste thousands of bottles each year and reach a consensus before any wine is admitted to the list.
The hundred-strong range covers red, white, rose, sparkling and fortified wines sourced from producers around the world. The split across styles and price points is regularly refreshed as new wines are assessed and added to replace those that no longer make the grade.
Club members receive a seasonal case of 12 wines curated by the Masters of Wine panel and delivered free of charge to their home. The case is assembled specifically for that season, offering a convenient way to discover new wines recommended by the same experts who choose the core range.
The range is structured so that roughly a quarter of the wines cost ten pounds or less, about half cost fifteen pounds or less, and the large majority of bottles fall below twenty pounds. A small selection of premium wines sits above thirty pounds, but the top price is capped below one hundred pounds, keeping the emphasis firmly on value.
The WineTrust100 eNewsletter was a regular source of tasting notes, food and wine pairing ideas, and exclusive savings for subscribers. It drew on the expertise of the Masters of Wine panel to help members get the most from the wines they bought.
